It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers should provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees. If the assessment of First Aid needs highlights the need for qualified First Aiders, then this course will provide you with Suitable, highly trained personnel. This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. This course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. (Effective from 1st October 2009).
Course Duration:
A minimum of 18 hours spread over at least 3 days. Ideally, the course should be run over 3 consecutive days, but we have the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs if you so desire.
A range of topics is covered including:
- Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
- Resuscitation
- Head injuries
- Chest injuries
- Asthma
- Bandaging
- Shock
- Strains
- Diabetes
- Assessment of the situation
- Fractures and spinal injuries
- Control of bleeding
- Heart attacks
- Eye injuries
- Sprains
- Epilepsy
- Choking
- Poisoning
- Burns
If your organisation has a specific area of training that is not included, or you require a more in-depth session, then we can accommodate you by providing additional training in that particular subject.
Subject to assessment, all participants will be issued with a First Aid at Work certificate approved by the Health and Safety Executive. This qualification is valid for three years which can be re-newed by attending a suitable Two-Day re-qualification course. The HSE strongly recommends that all First Aiders attend an annual refresher programme of a minimum three hours duration.
All students will be assessed by independent assessors on their ability to act safely, promptly and effectively for a casualty who is unresponsive, requires CPR and who is wounded and bleeding.
